The Associate in Arts Program (AAP) at the University of Delaware seeks to hire a continuing track
faculty member in mathematics at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. The successful candidate
should demonstrate an ability to teach a diverse set of students in active learning environments, leverage
technology to support student learning, collaborate with other instructors to improve teaching, and
encourage members of historically underrepresented groups to achieve their fullest potential in the field.
The AAP, with campuses in Wilmington, Dover, and Georgetown, is an interdisciplinary and
multidisciplinary associate degree program that includes coursework in humanities, history, the social
and behavioral sciences, natural sciences, and languages. AAP students constitute a racially,
socioeconomically diverse body of learners, the majority of whom go on to pursue majors in all seven
colleges on the University of Delaware’s main campus. AAP students enjoy an uninterrupted transition
from the AAP to a bachelor’s degree program in the junior year. Faculty who teach in the AAP commit
a majority of their time and effort to preparing students to succeed in their transition to bachelor’s
degree programs or to the workforce. Other responsibilities include university service and academic
advisement of freshmen enrolled in the program. Continuing track faculty have opportunities to pursue
research, are eligible for promotion and sabbaticals, and receive full and generous benefits as part of
their compensation package.
Candidates for the rank of Instructor must have a master’s degree in mathematics or mathematics
education. Candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor must have a doctoral degree in mathematics,
mathematics education, or a related field. The successful candidate may be expected to teach UD’s
foundational mathematics courses to AAP students on the Georgetown campus and should expect to
begin the position in the 2018 fall semester. These courses include Intermediate Algebra, College
Mathematics and Statistics, Precalculus, Precalculus for Scientists and Engineers, Calculus I, and Analytic Geometry and Calculus A.
To apply, the following materials must be submitted electronically to the MathJobs website, www.mathjobs.org: an AMS cover sheet, a detailed letter of interest, a curriculum vitae, undergraduate
and graduate transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and a statement of teaching philosophy

exceptional circumstances, applications may be sent by mail to Prof. Carla Morris, Math Continuing
Track Search Committee Co-Chair, Associate in Arts Program, 700 Campus Drive, Dover, DE 19904. For further information, contact search committee chair Carla Morris at email@example.com. Review of applications will begin on December 1, 2017, and will continue until the position is filled.
