BodyText1
The Service-Learning and Civic Engagement (SLCE) Conference is a full-day event designed to allow attendees the opportunity to share their experiences, best practices, and strategies for success for service-learning and civic-engagement projects.
Students, faculty and staff from institutions throughout Maryland, D.C. and Delaware convened on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, at the University of Maryland, College Park, to discuss the topics of community service, service learning and civic engagement.
Representing the AAP at SLCE 2019 were five current and former AAP students — Nada Abuasi, Joel Lobban, Christian Wills, Maggie Nelson and Mike Shumate — and Wilmington faculty members David Teague, Neri DeKramer and Rayna DeReus.
Since its inception in 1967, the Associate in Arts Program has maintained a tradition of community service. Current UD AAP projects include, among many others, collaborations with Open Streets Delaware, the Delaware Department of Natural Resources, the Delaware Historical Society, YWCA Delaware, and the Creative Vision Factory.
