The AAP, with campuses in Wilmington, Dover, and Georgetown, is an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary associate degree program that includes coursework in humanities, history, social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, natural sciences, and languages. AAP students constitute a racially, socioeconomically diverse body of learners, the majority of whom go on to pursue majors in all seven colleges on the University of Delaware’s main campus. Faculty who teach in the AAP commit a majority of their time and effort to preparing students at the highest level to succeed in their transition to bachelor’s degree programs or to the workforce. Other responsibilities include student advising and university service. Continuing track faculty have opportunities to pursue research, are eligible for promotion and sabbaticals, and receive full and generous benefits as part of their compensation package.

The Associate in Arts Program (AAP) at the University of Delaware seeks to hire a continuing track faculty member in mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate should demonstrate an ability to teach a diverse set of students in active learning environments, leverage technology to support student learning, collaborate with other instructors to improve teaching, and encourage members of historically underrepresented groups to achieve their fullest potential in the field.

AAP students enjoy an uninterrupted transition from the AAP to a bachelor’s degree program in the junior year. Faculty who teach in the AAP commit a majority of their time and effort to preparing students to succeed in their transition to bachelor’s degree programs or to the workforce. Other responsibilities include university service and academic advisement of freshmen enrolled in the program. Continuing track faculty have opportunities to pursue research, are eligible for promotion and sabbaticals, and receive full and generous benefits as part of their compensation package.
Candidates for this position must have a doctoral degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field. The successful candidate may be expected to teach UD’s foundational mathematics courses to AAP students on the Wilmington Campus, with opportunities available to teach at the Dover or Georgetown campus, and should expect to begin the position in the 2019 fall semester with a start date of Sept. 1. These courses include Intermediate Algebra, College Mathematics and Statistics, Precalculus, Precalculus for Scientists and Engineers, Calculus I and, Analytic Geometry & Calculus A.
