Alumna is guest panelist | Alumna is guest panelist | | 5/12/2023 4:00:00 AM | | <p>UD Associate in Arts Program alumna <strong>Nadisha Downs</strong> will be a guest panelist at the <a href="https://delawarelibraries.libcal.com/event/10546960?fbclid=IwAR1oHTS0d_4ujvklRH9qX8LG7gCEMZfsEw0HOlTG1TBqHxLUa9VbypimtcM" target="_blank">“P.O.W.E.R: Stories of Success'</a>'
event on Saturday, June 17, at the Wilmington Public Library. This
event for teens will feature a panel discussion with prominent
Wilmington professionals and community leaders, who will be sharing
their personal experiences in overcoming adversity and achieving
success. Downs earned her associate degree from the AAP in 2015. She
went on to major in human services, concentrating on administration in
family policy and urban education, and graduated in 2017. She was a
McNair Scholar during her time at UD and earned many accolades for her
undergraduate research publication, "Father Involvement of Young African
American Men Ages 18-25, in an Urban Context." She was selected as a UD
Summer Research All-Star and was chosen as one of seven undergraduates
accepted in the CAMRA Fellows Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
She is currently a case manager for former foster care youth at West

in Arts Program, led a three-day research and writing workshop for
English graduate students in the <a href="https://www.enghu.swu.ac.th/" target="_blank">Faculty of Humanities</a> at
Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) in Bangkok, Thailand. At SWU, he also
gave a presentation titled “The Treatment of Strangers in the Ancient
Western Tradition” that draws on his Study Abroad teaching in Greece and
provided students with perspectives on American postsecondary
education. Trembanis and Ryan speak on Historic Sussex County | Trembanis and Ryan speak on Historic Sussex County | | 10/14/2022 4:00:00 AM | | <p>On Oct. 6, 2022, <strong>Sarah Trembanis</strong>, Associate in Arts Program professor of history, along with AAP graduate and current UD junior <strong>Haley Ryan</strong> presented
a talk at the Bethany Beach Fire Hall, entitled "Cat Hill Cemetery: An
Investigation in Historic Sussex County." Their talk was based on
research undertaken through a 2022 Community Engagement Initiative
summer fellows grant and in partnership with the South Bethany
Historical Society. Ryan is majoring in history and minoring in both
women and gender studies and domestic violence prevention and
services.
