Who is eligible for the Associate in Arts Program's Summer Math Academy (SMA) in Wilmington?
The SMA is open only to incoming AAP first-year students who are enrolled for the fall 2023 semester. Ideally, participants will have an interest in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM), but the SMA is open to any student who will be taking calculus during their time in the AAP.
When and where is the SMA being offered?
The SMA dates are Monday through Thursday from July 10 to Aug. 17, 2023. Students join us at our Wilmington campus on the 8th and 9th floors of the Community Education Building (CEB) from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will be provided with vouchers to cover your parking fees at the 12th and Orange Street parking garage, which is three blocks from the CEB. (Find more information about parking.) Lunch will be provided for you each day.
How can I participate in the SMA?
Students must apply in order to participate. Applicants will be notified via email if they have been accepted.

When is the deadline for me to submit an application?

Will I really be paid to participate in the SMA?

I have other obligations this summer during the course of the program (work, family vacation, etc.). Would I still be able to participate?
Tell us more about it in your application, and we will do our best to accommodate you! We will look at each student's circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
I have more questions about the program that were not covered here. Can I speak to someone about it?
If you have any questions, please reach out to Dr. Sarah Vigliotta, the director of the SMA (svigliot@udel.edu.)
