Virtual NSO and Registration for Incoming Students
Welcome, new Blue Hens! We are pleased to welcome all of our incoming students to the UD Associate in Arts Program for the fall 2023 semester. New Student Orientation (NSO) is required for all new students to ensure the best experience possible when making the transition to college. NSO introduces you to our program and provides you with the knowledge you need to make the best possible start at UD. NSO for incoming AAP students will be held virtually from June 20–30, with make-up appointments available virtually from July 5-21. Students in the Beebe Dual Nursing Program must schedule their virtual appointments for June 20-21. Students in the Elementary Teacher Education program will be advised in-person in Georgetown on Tuesday, June 20 and in Wilmington on Wednesday, June 21.
All incoming students must complete the online ALEKS Math Placement Exam by June 15, 2023. The exam and instructions for completing it are located at My Blue Hen Home. Students who have not completed the placement exam will not be guaranteed a seat in a fall math course.
Before your advisement session, be sure to log in to your NSO Summer 2023 course in Canvas, complete the modules, and watch the "Meet Your College" recording.
What to Expect & How to Prepare
All NSO activities for the Associate in Arts Program will be conducted online this summer. These will include:
Academic advising and selection of fall courses
An online orientation course
A checklist of tasks to complete
All new students must submit their medical history and immunization documentation by July 25, 2023. Visit UD’s Student Health Services site for information on documentation requirements, instructions for submitting your vaccine documentation, and FAQs. Please note that all undergraduate, graduate and professional students are encouraged to be fully immunized against COVID-19 before their arrival to campus.
Registering for Your Advisement Session
All incoming freshmen are required to attend an individual advisement session, held via Zoom, to select courses for the fall semester and discuss them with an academic advisor. This advisement session is a crucial step in planning for a successful freshman year. Students who do not log on to their scheduled advisement appointment must reschedule for a later time and cannot be guaranteed their choice of seats in all classes.
Please be sure to check the individual registration dates for your course of study, as many of our programs meet for advisement sessions on different days. Register for your advisement session via your My Blue Hen Home student portal. Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email that includes the Zoom link for your session.
To get the most out of the orientation experience and to receive important information before the start of the fall semester, students should set up their UD email account as soon as possible. Directions for UDelNet student account setup are available from UD-IT and at My Blue Hen Home.
Your First Day on Campus as a New Blue Hen
Each AAP campus will hold a Campus Welcome Event in August to introduce all new students to their campuses and learn more about the benefits and supports at each location. Be sure to save the date, and keep checking your UD email for more information:
